FAQ
How do I burn my candle safely?
You may think, where could I go wrong here. Frankly, many ways... but that's what we're here for!
- Never leave a burning candle unattended. Keep your lit candle in sight at all times!
- Never burn a candle on or near anything that might catch fire, like loose papers, fabric, bedding, books, drapes, decorations, etc. Play it safe and give your candle a nice clear area to sit on.
- Keep lit candles away from drafts--open windows, air conditioners, vents, fans, etc.
- Keep candles out of the reach of children and pets.
- Extinguish the flame if it becomes too high or flickers repeatedly. Trim the wick and check for drafts before re-lighting.
- If there is any chance you might doze off to sleep, blow out your candle immediately!
- Wait until the flame extinguishes completely and clears of smoke before replacing our topper lid.
- If you’ve created a large wax pool during your burn, blow it out gently to avoid wax splattering.
- Don’t try to take a selfie while holding a lit candle (we're guilty…)

Are your candles clean?
Orin Essentials candles are clean-burning and non-toxic. All of our ingredients are thoughtfully sourced to create products that are safe and sustainable. We are vegan, cruelty-free, phthalate-free, and formulated with 100% all natural soy wax produced from US grown soybeans.
Why soy?
We choose to work with soy wax for a variety of reasons. We love that it's an 100% renewable resource and carbon neutral. We love that it burns more cleanly - and better yet - for a longer period of time than paraffin. We love the way soy wax smells mixed with a good fragrance. Soy candles are better for the environment and your health: they are non-toxic and burn cleaner than paraffin wax. It produces as much as 90% less soot than paraffin wax. This soot can blacken walls, ceilings, and furniture, contaminate ventilation ductwork in your home, and most importantly, add toxic carcinogens into the air that you breathe.
Soy also helps U.S. farmers by creating important economic growth for the agricultural sector of the US economy.
While paraffin wax is refined from crude oil, soy wax is made from soybeans- a completely renewable resource grown here in the US. Compared to paraffin, soy wax burns cleaner with no petrol-carbon soot. Soy wax also burns slower than paraffin, so soy wax candles also last longer.
How is soy wax made?
Soybeans are husked and dried into flake form, then the oil is extracted from the flakes and hydrogenated. The hydrogenation alters the chemical compound so that soybean oil is a solid at room temperature - soy wax! Leftover bean husks are typically used as animal feed.
What is the best way to burn?
To care for our candles, trim the candle’s wick to 1/4” before or after every burn session and allow the candle to burn for 3-4 hour intervals, or until a full melt pool has formed.
